Citizen science programs engage people from the general public as volunteers in scientific research projects through the collection of ecologic information.
Corkscrew's current citizen science programs are set up to promote environmental awareness and actively engage the public in the collection of data on bird and butterfly species in and near the Sanctuary. The information collected by our citizen scientists is used to improve local and national knowledge of bird and butterfly distribution and population trends. Information collected can also be incorporated into natural resource management plans.
