Debbie is the Education Coordinator for Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. She manages all Youth Education Programs for thousands of students each year and a special partnership program with Florida Gulf Coast University where students take a sustainability course that includes visits to Corkscrew’s Swamp Sanctuary . In addition, to providing an outdoor environmental classroom for students at Corkscrew, she also conducts education programs in the community to inspire even more of our youth and teach them about wild Florida.
Debbie is a homegrown environmentalist, having developed a passion for insects, spiders, animals, and nature on a 2nd grade field trip as a Collier County elementary student. She has lived in Naples for 30 years. She and her husband have 3 boys. Debbie loves alligators, snakes and spiders and owns a few that she uses as ambassador animals to educate the public. Debbie majored in art and worked as a graphic designer for many years. While working, she volunteered as a Cub Scout Leader and as the Advancement Chair for the Pack. In 2008, Debbie decided to follow her passion for nature and educating children, and joined Corkscrew’s staff. She is a Florida Master Naturalist and a practiced Entomologist.
