Shawn McCrohan

Associate Director, Blair Audubon Visitor Center

Shawn McCrohan is a Certified Park and Recreation professional who has worked in environmental education for more than 20 years.

Prior to joining Audubon she served as the Interim Executive Director for the Arizona Association for Environmental Education, working to further environmental literacy and earning the organization 2018 Outstanding Affiliate Award by the North American Association for Environmental Education.

Shawn served as Manager of Environmental Science for Somerset County Park Commission in New Jersey, where she operated an Environmental Education Center and managed 550 acres of parkland. During this time she secured corporate grants to expand K-12 STEM environmental education programs, and guided the organization to expand its environmental stewardship efforts.

Shawn also held the position of Science Education Coordinator at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, where she managed the visits of more than 90,000 schoolchildren and piloted an outreach program for underserved youth. In 2011, she founded an Arizona-based Geotourism company, Geo Savvy Tours, which focuses on promoting a sense of place and environmentally responsible travel in Arizona.

Shawn attended Northern Arizona University, majoring in Parks and Recreation Management and is Wilderness First Responder and River Rescue certified. She is passionate about environmental education, particularly for adults, city planners and policy makers.
