Roswitha is the Retail and Sales Manager for Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Nature Store, Gallery Cafe, and Admissions. She focuses her dedication and passion to finding new and exciting merchandise for the Nature Store that conveys Audubon's mission “to conserve and restore natural ecosystems for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity."
Roswitha and her staff are constantly working on providing visitors with an exceptional experience by varying product offerings, different food options, and regular store events that promote appreciation of Florida's natural habitat and its conservation.
She grew up in Vienna, Austria, where she attended business school and started working in the retail industry to build a foundation for future entrepreneurship. She moved to Germany and established a successful retail store in the high-end fashion and accessories sector, which included the management of fashion shows and sales promotion events.
Through extensive traveling, she gained her understanding for different cultures and developed her appreciation for the natural environment. Roswitha particularly fell in love with the flora and fauna of Florida.
After moving to the United States, she worked in real estate in Virginia and Miami, and as a sales associate in a Whole Foods store. She again started her own business, opening a retail store with her own creation of jewelry, gifts and Florida-related products. A lover of animals, she also worked at a cat sanctuary.
She joined the staff at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in January 2014 as a means of combining her business management skills and her passion for nature.
In her spare time, she enjoys working on art and crafts. Her appreciation of art has helped her find artists for the Visitor Center’s Gallery Café. Diners in the café are afforded stunning views of the nature-themed artwork and the pine forest outside. Her artistic skills also prove handy when she decorates the Visitors Center for special events, such as the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and donor events.
