February 7, 2025: Alex Meinders, Research Technician - “Life Above and Below the Water's Surface”
Rain driven aquatic habitats, such as those at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, are dynamic environments that experience drastic changes over the course of a year or even a single day. This lecture explores the changes in hydrology that Corkscrew Swamp has experienced over the last 60+ years of data collection and how rainfall and anthropogenic changes can influence the flora and fauna of the Sanctuary. We will also take a close look at the seldom-seen aquatic animals that form the prey base for our resident wading birds.
These lectures are free and exclusive to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary members.
