Come out for a magical evening on August 7 to enjoy the nearly full moon as you explore the 2.25-mile boardwalk through our ancient bald cypress forest with trees more than 500 years old.

General admission begins at 6:30 p.m., and the event concludes at 9:30 p.m. The moon rises on the evening of August 7 at 7:10 p.m., with sunset at 8 p.m. Adults enjoy discounted admission at $8 with $3 admission for kids ages 6-14. Children 5 and under enter for free.

Did you know? Red light is less disturbing for our nocturnal wildlife and better for maintaining your night vision. You're welcome to use a red flashlight for this event. Red cellophane will be available at no cost to cover flashlights and cameras that use a white light. 

A variety of activities are planned on the boardwalk:

• Sound ID station
• Storytelling with flashlights and shadow puppets
• Biofluorescent station
• Spotting scopes in the wet prairie for wildlife and night sky viewing 
• Bat station

In addition, there will be a touch table on nocturnal animals from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., a moth station on the lower patio (starting at 7:30 p.m.), and the Nature Store will be open from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with snacks, drinks, and merchandise. All proceeds go back to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary! Members receive 20% off all Nature Store merchandise. All visitors will receive a 20% discount on moon-related merchandise. 

Participants are encouraged to keep mosquitoes away from exposed skin by wearing a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and socks. Mosquito repellent will be available.
