August Water Level Update

Rainfall this month was typical.

Swamp water levels are about where we’d expect them to be at this time of year but are on the low side of the average range. Our research and land management teams are hopeful that we’ll receive significantly more rainfall before we head into the dry season.

This time of year fish and crayfish populations are continuing to reproduce and grow. Many tadpoles have emerged from the water by now, their lifecycle timed to allow them to escape the increase in predation pressure from fish.

As we move into the fall months we expect more wading birds to move into the system.
