Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Announces Fall Program Schedule

Guided walks on the boardwalk are some of the best ways to learn about and experience the Western Everglades.

Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, located in Naples, has announced a variety of guided walks to be hosted at the Blair Audubon Center for fall season. Guided walks on the boardwalk are some of the best ways to learn about and experience the Western Everglades.

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is an Important Bird Area, part of the Atlantic Flyway for bird migration, the gateway site for the southwest region of the Great Florida Birding Trail, and is a Ramsar-designated Wetland of International Importance.

The Blair Audubon Center, at 375 Sanctuary Road, is open with timed daily admissions from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It offers exhibits, a Nature Store, and a world-famous, 2.25-mile boardwalk that meanders through pine flatwood, wet prairie, around a marsh, and finally into the largest old-growth bald cypress forest in North America. Admission is $17 for adults, $6 for kids 6-14, and free for kids under six and Friends of Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary members. Advance tickets are required.

Cost is $40, discounted for members. Limit: 10 participants. Register.

Night Walk

Enjoy a night in the swamp on this guided walk which brings you into the swamp when the nocturnal animals are out and vocal, and great views of the night sky (clouds permitting).  You never know what you will hear or see on a visit to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary but a night visit should bring the sounds of calling insects, possibly owls and alligators, and most likely a surprise or two!  You will also learn about the nocturnal biodiversity of the swamp and adaptations that enable nocturnal wildlife to thrive. Cost is $40, discounted for members. Limit: 10 participants. Register
