Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Receives $5K Grant From the Collier Community Foundation

These funds will support the efforts of the Corkscrew Sustainability Board’s strategic planning.

Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is pleased to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from the Collier Community Foundation. These funds will support the efforts of the Corkscrew Sustainability Board’s strategic planning.

With a 125-year legacy of conservation in the Sunshine State, Audubon works to conserve and restore the habitats we share with wildlife while also working with the community to advocate for common-sense solutions to challenges facing our natural resources throughout the Corkscrew Watershed. A cadre of dedicated volunteers serves in the capacity of the Corkscrew Sustainability Board, which is charged with increasing support for programs and engaging the people and businesses of Southwest Florida in wetland conservation.

“This gift will improve the effectiveness of Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Sustainability Board to lead and contribute meaningfully to the organization's success by focusing on building the necessary skills, knowledge, and networks,” says Steve Nellis, board chair. “We are grateful to the Collier Community Foundation for their grant support and providing this opportunity for local nonprofits,” he added.

The Collier Community Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Selected organizations receive grant dollars from the Foundation’s discretionary funds. These funds were gifted by donors who believe in the Community Foundation’s ability to mobilize resources to address the community’s greatest needs.
