The mission of Audubon Florida and the National Audubon Society is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity. We seek to support and encourage natural science research, provided that these studies enhance understanding of the Sanctuary's natural resources, processes and values.

Scientific research and collecting permits are required by all individuals seeking to conduct scientific studies in Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Research permit applications and proposals go through a review process in order to ensure that Sanctuary resources are not impaired and that proposed activities do not impact the visitor experience.

Investigators interested in conducting research at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary should contact Conservation Director Shawn Clem, Ph.D., about your proposed study. Please include information about your proposed study, including the scientific merit of the project (with references, as appropriate), target date(s) for field work, sampling methodology and sample sizes (including details on any flora or fauna that you would like to handle or destroy). A formal research proposal may be requested. Please allow 60 days for evaluation and approval.
