Alex joined the team in May 2021 as Research Technician. Hailing from Springfield, Missouri, Alex received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Missouri State University, where he studied cottonmouth behavior. Before joining the Sanctuary’s research team Alex was introduced to Southwest Florida as the sea turtle technician at Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge.
At Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Alex is responsible for leading long-term monitoring of hydrology and wildlife to help us better understand the effects of regional changes on the Sanctuary’s ecology. He also serves as a member of the Sanctuary’s prescribed fire crew and as Audubon’s representative to the Southwest Florida Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) Animal Committee.
