Summer Solstice Evening at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary

Enjoy a beautiful evening stroll along our boardwalk on the summer solstice on June 21, 2023.

Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is hosting a Summer Solstice Evening on June 21, 2023.  Visitors are invited to stroll the boardwalk, talk to our Boardwalk Naturalists and get a fascinating glimpse of life in the swamp as the sun is setting.

Come and explore the 2.25 mile-boardwalk that serves as the gateway to old Florida wilderness as it meanders through pine flatwood, wet prairie, marshes, and the largest old-growth bald cypress forest in North America. The Sanctuary is also home to hundreds of alligators, otters, white-tailed deer, red-bellied turtles, and a wide variety of wading birds, songbirds, and raptors.

A special highlight of the event will be Christine Cook and her Ukulele! Christine will sing and play songs about the Summer Solstice and the celebration of summertime from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Admission will begin at 5 p.m., and the boardwalk will close at 8:30 p.m. Last admission is at 7 p.m. Sunset that night will be at 8:21 p.m. Please note: a Sanctuary team member will clear the boardwalk to ensure everyone has safely exited by 8:30 p.m.

The Nature Store will be open from 5 – 8:45 p.m. for snacks, drinks, and souvenirs.  Your purchase of nature-oriented products support our boardwalk; all proceeds go back to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary! Members receive 10% off every purchase.
