Jan. 3: Wings Along the Water: Exploring Shorebirds in Southwest Florida, Megan Hatten, Senior Project Coordinator for Audubon Florida

Description: Audubon Florida’s important conservation work spans across the state. In this presentation, we’ll explore five key shorebird species that nest along the coastlines of Collier and Lee counties, covering their identification, nesting behaviors, and the challenges they face. We will also highlight Audubon’s efforts to protect both the birds and their habitats, including:

  • Monitoring and managing critical nesting sites
  • Conducting population surveys
  • Engaging the public through education
  • Stewarding nesting colonies

This presentation will offer a deeper understanding of the shorebird species that rely on our beaches and the essential work being done by Audubon to ensure their future.

These lectures are free and exclusive to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary members.
